Permaculture Australia

Permaculture Australia is the national permaculture member based organisation in Australia. Our mission is to support, promote and advocate for permaculture ideas, solutions and strategies.

We are a registered charity with the ACNC and Registered Environmental Organisation, and responsible for Permafund,  supporting Accredited Permaculture training and supporting the Australasian Permaculture Convergence.

PA’s Permafund has run five grant rounds since 2012 – funding 38 permaculture projects in 14 countries around the world. We are volunteer run and funded entirely by donations, with donations of $2 tax deductible in Australia. Read more about the different ways to donate here and find out more about Permafund here.

Accredited Permaculture Training is the nationally recognised vocational training in permaculture in Australia. APT courses range from Certificate I to IV  and Diploma in Permaculture, which are offered by some TAFE and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) via online and face to face methods.

The Australasian Permaculture Convergence is a biannual gathering of permaculture people from across Australia and the Asia Pacific region. The program includes four days of workshops, hands on activities and discussion, with national and international key speakers. The 2021 event is hosted by Northey Street City Farm in Brisbane with tickets available now.

Membership

We have hundreds of members across Australia and the globe working in education, design, international aid, schools, water and waste management, community development, market gardens and urban farming, policy and research to name a few.  Being a member of PA means you have joined a lively group of people getting active about solving the world’s problems.

Taking actions that are guided by permaculture principles and ethics reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and create systems that return carbon to the earth. Permaculture offers a huge range of practical tools to improve household and community resilience, increase food security, better manage water, and reduce bushfire risks. All of these are sorely needed now that the climate is changing so much faster than expected, with unprecedented fire conditions, heatwaves and drought. Sign up as a member today here and help us advocate for permaculture solutions.
