Consultancies

Sustain and Executive Director Nick Rose have led and been involved in multiple consultancies over the past seven years investigating food systems issues and opportunities for positive interventions. This work includes the following:

  • 2017 – City of Wyndham VIC – Food Hub Feasibility Study and Community Food System Engagement – desktop research and data analysis, surveys and interviews with multiple industry and community stakeholders to assess the feasibility for a multi-functional food hub in the City of Wyndham (joint consultancy)
  • 2016 – Rural City of Wangaratta / Food for Alliance, VicFood Hub Feasibility Study – desktop research, interviews and focus groups with multiple industry and community stakeholders to assess the feasibility for a multi-functional food hub in north-east Victoria (joint consultancy)
  • 2016 – City of Albany WA – multi-stakeholder food hub engagement workshops, leading to a summary report on the potential for a food hub in the Great Southern region of WA
  • 2015 – City of Greater Bendigo VIC – Food Hub Feasibility Study – surveys and interviews with multiple industry and community stakeholders to assess the feasibility for a multi-functional food hub in the City of Greater Bendigo (joint consultancy)
  • 2015 – Yarra Ranges Shire Council VIC – Food Systems mapping – workshops with stakeholders across the food system as well as local government staff and managers to generate a food systems analysis and profile for Yarra Ranges Shire Council
  • 2014-2015 – City of Whittlesea VIC – Food Systems Background mapping – interviews and focus group with economic development and other staff to generate a food systems analysis and profile for the City of Whittlesea
  • 2013 – Regional Development Victoria / Southern Melbourne RDA – Economic Benefits of Creative Food Economies: Evidence, Case Studies and Actions for Southern Melbourne – desktop research and data analysis combined with case studies of 6 leading world centres of artisanal agriculture and premium and local food economic development, synthesised into a 50-page report with recommendations
  • 2012 – Tweed Shire Council NSW – interviews, workshops, desktop research and data analysis with producers and community members to develop a Sustainable Agriculture Strategy for the Tweed (joint consultancy)
  • 2012 – City of Redlands QLD – interviews, workshops, desktop research and data analysis with producers and community members to develop a Rural Futures Strategy for the City of Redlands (joint consultancy)
  • 2011 –Gold Coast City Council QLD – interviews, workshops, desktop research and data analysis with producers and community members to develop a Local Food Production and Consumption report for Gold Coast City Council (joint consultancy)
  • 2008-2009 – Coffs Habour City Council, Bellingen Shire Council and Nambucca Shire Council – Local Food Futures Framework – desktop research and interviews to prepare an 80-page Local Food Futures Framework for the Coffs Coast, leading to the establishment of the Coffs Coast Local Food Alliance
